Promoting health on a global basis.

IPSF stands for the International Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation, and it is the largest student run pharmacy organization in the world.  IPSF was founded in London in 1949 by 8 pharmacy student associations; currently, the federation encompasses association members from 84 countries.  IPSF’s here in the United States, IPSF is a part of APhA-ASP, so becoming a member of APhA-ASP also comes with the benefit of being a member of IPSF.

IPSF manages the annual Student Exchange Program, the annual World Congress, professional development events, as well as public health campaigns (i.e. diabetes and healthy living campaign, anti-counterfeit medication campaign, anti-tobacco campaign, humanitarian campaign, anti-tuberculosis campaign and HIV/AIDS awareness campaign).

Here at USC, IPSF collaborates with other project directors to host events creating awareness of certain diseases states, especially on days marked by the World Health Organization to be the day to create awareness of that disease.  Furthermore, IPSF manages the travel health awareness educational project, which educates participants on how to prevent the acquisition of communicable diseases while traveling abroad (e.g. mosquito bite prevention, safe food habits). IPSF has also collaborated with the USC Institute of Global Health.
